In a series of lab animal and human cell line experiments, University of Texas at Austin scientists tested 142 natural food compounds to identify which ones, individually and together, stop the growth of prostate cancer cells.
Five foods and food ingredients emerged from the research as powerful inhibitors of prostate cancer growth: curcumin (the yellow plant compound from the turmeric plant), ursolic acid from apple peels, resveratrol from red grapes, green tea, and curry traditionally found in Indian food.
These foods work individually on prostate cancer cell, and when taken in combination together to slow tumor growth. These nutrient combinations create synergies that made the effects even more powerful.
